Nigeria Broadcast Digitization:NBC Sets aside 200 BIllion Naira intervention Fund

Nigeria  National Broadcasting Commission (NBC) has announced 200 billion naira intervention fund to assist broadcast stations in Nigeria.This is coming as the June 2015 deadline for the switch over from analogue to digital transmission draws near.Prof. Herbert Onye Orji - Chairman ,NBC board- stated this on Tuesday,October 21 in Abuja during the opening ceremony of the 10th Biennial Africa Broadcasters exhibition (AFRICAST 2014) organised by the commission

He said preparation towards making the fund available had reach advanced stage and that
the commission would technically study the management of the fund.On the aim of the fund, he said:"It will provide grants in capacity building in form of soft loans to television, radio, cable and other producers, distributors and other acquirers of contents,"

ThisDay reports that NBC would hire a world class consulting firm to collaborate with its development partners abroad on modalities to raise the fund.
